About Sackville North (NSW 2756)

Sackville North is adjacent to Sackville. Sackville North is a fairly isolated rural area, surrounded on the north, west and south by the Hawkesbury River. There are no shops or service stations in the suburb, which largely comprises holdings of 2 to 10 hectares (5 to 25 acres), with a few larger properties of 40 hectares or more.

Sackville Reach, a portion of the Hawkesbury River, was named after Viscount Sackville (1716-1785) in the early years of European settlement. Sackville North's name was in common usage for many years but was not officially adopted by the Geographical Names Board of New South Wales until 1996. Sackville School Post Office opened on 1 March 1911, was renamed Sackville North in December of the same year and closed in 1957. It reopened in 1963 and closed again in 1975.
