About Marleston (SA 5033)

Marleston's earliest European settler in this area was Donald McLean, who selected Section 50, Hundred of Adelaide, of 80 acres (32 ha) in 1837, (the area was originally part of Hilton) and with his family ploughed and sowed 20 acres of seed wheat and in 1838 reaped the first harvest of wheat in South Australia. Around ten years later he sold the land to John Marles, who subdivided it in 1879.
