About Shenton Park (WA 6008)

Shenton Park is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Subiaco and 4 km west of the Central business district. Its postcode is 6008. The suburb is named after the park that it contains; Shenton Park, which was named after George Shenton who originally owned the land that is now the suburb of Shenton Park.

This suburb name honours one of Western Australia's most notable nineteenth century citizens, Sir George Shenton. Shenton was from a prominent colonial family, and was an astute businessman and politician. He served three terms as Mayor of Perth, and his home "Crawley Park" is now part of the University of Western Australia. He died in 1909.
